House votes to approve defense bill with protections for joint base

...Those provisions included language blocking a new round of military base closures, as well as an amendment authored by Reps. Tom MacArthur, R-3rd of Toms River, and Donald Norcross, D-1st of Camden, protecting the joint base's fleet of KC-10 refueling jets from early retirement.

..."This bill not only protects South Jersey's joint base and the American heroes who work and live there, it also funds our vital national defense programs responsibly. I've been repeatedly calling for responsible solutions, and today we've taken a step in the right direction for America's security," Norcross said Thursday.
