Trump declares opioids a public health emergency

...Congress' Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, led by New Jersey Reps. Tom MacArthur and Donald Norcross and Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, also pushed for the emergency declaration and immediate action on waivers for drug treatment centers from the Medicaid rule.

..."Now, it's up to Congress and the administration to put actions behind words, funding behind promises," Norcross, D-1st of Camden, said after Trump's address. "We must fill the Public Health Emergency Fund or provide emergency appropriations immediately. Let's work together in Congress to advance our task force's bipartisan proposals to help those struggling with the disease of addiction and to provide the resources for the emergency fund. We must come together to save lives."
