U.S. House approves defense bill with pay raise for troops, no base closures

...MacArthur, R-3rd of Toms River, and Norcross, D-1st of Camden, were both deeply involved in efforts to convince the Air Force to select the joint base for the new tankers. Both cited the importance of the tanker mission in statements applauding the passage of the defense bill.
..."These refueling tankers will bring new jobs and growth to our state and make our base an indispensable starting point for national security missions on the East Coast. While on schedule now, I will continue working to prevent the Air Force from falling behind," Norcross said.
