Our government is most effective when it has a budget in place that minds the deficit while funding critical programs. We need to address the national debt by cutting wasteful spending, boosting tax revenue by ensuring the wealthiest pay their fair share, and investing in programs that promote economic growth and create family-sustaining jobs.

NEWARK, NJ – Today in Newark, NJ, Governor-elect Phil Murphy and Democratic members of the New Jersey House delegation discussed the impact of the House Republican's tax plan on New Jersey. The plan is estimated to cost many New Jersey families thousands of dollars a year. A total of 1.8 million New Jersey households deduct a cumulative $17 billion in state income or sales taxes from their federal taxes. Those tax deductions would be eliminated under the House GOP bill.
