July 9, 2015

Washington, D.C. - 16 days after severe weather struck South Jersey, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) has just been briefed on efforts to aid storm victims.

"This afternoon, I was informed state officials are preparing a disaster declaration that will be sent to President Obama sometime next week," said Rep. Norcross.

The declaration would include Camden, Gloucester, Burlington, and Atlantic Counties

The June 23rd storms caused extensive damage, knocking out power to tens of thousands of South Jersey residents. Some were in the dark for nearly a week.

Washington, DC - Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) Tuesday continued his fight to fund programs that clean up toxic sites across South Jersey and protect the health of constituents from potential health hazards.

Rep. Norcross introduced an amendment to add an additional $22 million to the Superfund Program (House Resolution 2822, the FY 2016 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill). Although the amendment did not move forward, the Congressman remains vigilant about cleaning up contaminated sites.

On board the Battleship New Jersey, Camden, NJ- Under gray skies, spirits were bright this Independence Day as 45 new Americans took the Oath of Allegiance, officially becoming U.S. Citizens.

Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) delivered the keynote address for the July 4th ceremonies with the U.S. Navy's most decorated battleship in history, the Battleship New Jersey as the backdrop.

Cherry Hill, NJ - Today, Congressman Donald Norcross urged Governor Chris Christie to issue a disaster declaration for Camden and Gloucester Counties following the severe weather storm that ripped through South Jersey Tuesday evening. If granted, this declaration may trigger the release of federal funds to help communities recover from damage caused by severe winds that has uprooted countless trees, downed power lines, and left hundreds of thousands of residents without power.

Cherry Hill, NJ – As efforts to restore power throughout South Jersey continue, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) urged his former colleagues in the New Jersey Legislature to approve a resolution he championed last fall establishing October as "Lineman Appreciation Month." Norcross sponsored the resolution in honor of the men and women who work tirelessly to provide safe and reliable utility service. The provision passed the State Senate unanimously and is expected for a vote in the Assembly tomorrow.
