WASHINGTON, DC – Late yesterday, Congressman Donald Norcross voted to support the House passage of H.R. 203, the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act. Named after a marine veteran who took his own life in 2011, this legislation seeks to end our nation's growing veteran suicide epidemic that is estimated to claim 22 lives every day.
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Donald Norcross (D-NJ) has been selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee for the 114th Congress. The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) is responsible for funding the Department of Defense and the United States Armed forces, having jurisdiction over military operations and defense policy. Furthermore, the Committee is responsible for overseeing a number of programs under the Department of Energy relating to national security.

The inauguration marks the beginning of the Congressman's full term and follows his November 12, 2014 swearing in which he served the final two months of an unexpired term in the 113th Congress. Rep. Haddon Heights, NJ – Today, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced that the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services have jointly awarded nearly $17.5 million to improve preschool programs throughout New Jersey. The federal grant, which will be shared among 19 districts, is designed to ensure that preschool is more accessible to children in high need communities and that students are fully prepared to enter kindergarten. Recipients in the First Congressional District include Bellmawr, Lindenwold, and Paulsboro.
Today, Governor Chris Christie and the New Jersey Schools Development Association (SDA) announced a $50 million project to renovate Camden City High School and transform the facility into a state of the art learning environment. The project, which passed the House of Representatives with bipartisan support, is expected to create thousands of construction jobs and deliver millions of gallons of crude oil to America, providing a much-needed boost to our refining industry and limiting our nation's dependence on Middle Eastern oil.
