There's a push among three local members of Congress to get their states on board with sharing information on what prescriptions doctors are writing for highly addictive opioids.
The Tri-State is part of a program that allows doctors to check for similar prescriptions their patients might be getting from other physicians.
The issue?
New Jersey only shares with Delaware and neither shares with Pennsylvania.

A South Jersey congressman spent the past week in Germany, quietly getting an up close and personal chance to learn about Russia's political system from many of those who run it.
Don Norcross was one of 14 congressional members who participated in a forum sponsored by the Aspen Institute, which calls itself "an educational and policy studies organization" based in Washington.
They got a chance to meet some of their counterparts in Russia's Federal Assembly and selected members of Vladimir Putin's administration.

...Norcross suggests it is way too easy for addicts to play the current system.
..."They could pick up a prescription here in New Jersey to go across the bridge and do it immediately again," Norcross told KYW Newsradio. "It's that prescription shopping that's going on and this program will prevent that from happening."

Another South Jersey congressman is taking on a leadership role in the fight against the national heroin and opioid addiction crisis.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Donald Norcross (NJ-01), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) and Patrick Meehan (PA-07) sent a letter to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Delaware Governor John Carney and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf urging them to expedite efforts to begin sharing Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) information with the goal of preventing opioid abuse. Moreover, the bipartisan letter requests the establishment of a Delaware Valley agreement to improve the effectiveness of PDMPs through interstate data sharing.
