The $1.5-million grant -- awarded through FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant -- will be used to buy new air tanks (or self-contained breathing apparatuses) for firefighters in Collingswood, Pennsauken and Camden City, Congressman Donald Norcross said.

The congressman said he started advocating in support of the grant in December of last year and thought it would be a big help for municipalities trying to do more with less.

..."This is really a microcosm of what's going on in our entire country," Norcross said.

...In Congress, Norcross, a former union worker, is backing legislation to increase the federal minimum wage over time to $15 an hour. That would result in more than doubling the current $7.25 minimum wage.

Congressman Donald Norcross today announced his support for H.R. 913, the Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act, that would require labeling of GMO foods.

"Consumers deserve a nationwide standard of transparency for GMOs and I urge Congress to pass this bill," said Norcross. "Labeling products that contain GMOs is the best way for Americans to know what's in their food, and by standardizing food labeling regulations at the federal level, we will prevent a patchwork of overlapping and contradictory labeling laws that differ from state to state."

...Triton was one of just five schools in New Jersey to be chosen for the U.S. Department of Education's Green Ribbon honor, which recognizes schools for their efforts to protect and preserve the environment through projects and awareness and for improving the health and wellness of schools, students and staff.
