Washington, D.C. – Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today was informed that the State of New Jersey has formally submitted a request for federal disaster aid for the June 23rd storms that left widespread damage across Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, and Atlantic Counties.
In the aftermath of the storms, Rep. Norcross urged Governor Chris Christie to issue a disaster declaration, which would enable local municipalities saddled with the costs associated with storm cleanup to receive federal funding assistance.

The June 23rd storms caused extensive damage, knocking out power to tens of thousands of South Jersey residents. Some were in the dark for nearly a week.

Rep. Norcross introduced an amendment to add an additional $22 million to the Superfund Program (House Resolution 2822, the FY 2016 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill). Although the amendment did not move forward, the Congressman remains vigilant about cleaning up contaminated sites.
