America's Workers
Our national workforce keeps our country running and provides invaluable services we often take for granted. Nobody should have to work multiple jobs or extraordinary hours to provide for their family, save for retirement or feel financially secure. As an electrician by trade, I know the best social program in the world is a job and I believe every worker must have an opportunity to succeed, which starts with fair pay. Women have made great strides in history, but it’s time they receive equal pay for equal work and the opportunity to maintain a work and family balance. We need to ensure working families have fair wages, safe working conditions, and a voice in the workplace.

Rep. Donald Norcross, D-N.J., said he has never heard of an "honest mistake" causing a small business to go bankrupt and said the piece of legislation was meant to go after employers willfully engaging in wage theft. "The ones we are talking about today are intentional," he said, "and hurt real people."

"Workplace safety at Amazon's New Jersey warehouses is clearly not a priority, otherwise the rate of injury would be decreasing — not skyrocketing," Norcross said, asking for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to intervene. "I am calling on OSHA to conduct a prompt and comprehensive investigation into the work conditions at Amazon's New Jersey warehouses – and nationwide if needed – to identify deficiencies in Amazon's policy and culture that have led to these harrowing reports."

The bipartisan letter was signed by 148 of Congressman Norcross's House colleagues.
