BLACKWOOD, NJ - At the Camden County Animal Shelter, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today announced a new action in Congress to designate National Animal Rescue Day on the first Saturday of October every year.
More than a million stray cats and dogs are euthanized annually by overburdened shelters across the United States, and Animal Rescue Day will spur a mass campaign about shelters and why families should consider adopting these animals in need of permanent, stable homes.

...Norcross has proposed a House Resolution to create National Animal Rescue Day. This was inspired by a local animal activist who just wants to see other cats and dogs receive the same love and affection that she offers her pets.
..."The downside is how many of them are found stray in the street or quite frankly, some are turned in because the [owners] can no longer afford it," said Norcross. "We understand both of those issues. I had a biscuit with me trying to feed a dog, and all the dog wanted to do was be pet."

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today issued the following statement on the fiscal year 2018 Omnibus Appropriations Act:
"This $1.3 trillion budget was negotiated behind closed doors and released at the eleventh hour with no time for real consideration. After five Continuing Resolutions and two government shutdowns, Republicans still waited until the last minute to fund vital programs for South Jersey's families and provide predictability for our nation's military. This is no way to conduct business and the American people deserve better.
