National Security
We must do everything we can to ensure service members, veterans, and their families are cared for in return for their service to our country. Proper defense budgeting ensures our soldiers are best equipped to get the job done. Maintaining the readiness of our military also ensures our national defense. Supporting South Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst not only supports our national security needs, but it also employs 44,000 civilians and military personnel.
I also have a personal commitment to the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East and the region’s only democracy. I am proud to serve on the Armed Services Committee to ensure our military, allies, and strategic partners can meet domestic and security threats to our shared democratic values.

Even as he proposed boosting defense spending by $54 billion, President Donald Trump followed the lead of his predecessor in asking for a new round of military base closings.

But that was before the joint base landed 24 new KC-46 refueling tankers. Scheduled to arrive from 2020 to 2023, the planes will be housed by the 305th Air Mobility Wing.

Young people were at the center of today's march against gun violence. They are, as either victims or perpetrators, the largest part of the tragic statistics in a city whose residents have learned to live with the violence while trying to foster some positivity.
"I feel like there's more to Camden than what people think. It's like there are a lot of intelligent kids out here," insisted teenager Tysaan Brokenboro...
