Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the below statement following the House vote to condemn the Administration's attacks on our health care system:

“Americans want and deserve affordable health care, but the Trump Administration is actively working to drive up prices and put coverage out of reach for millions by repealing the Affordable Care Act. Why would we ever want to rip coverage away from 30 million Americans and people with pre-existing conditions?!

“Today’s vote to condemn the Administration’s attacks was an easy one. Come on! We must work to expand access to coverage – not take it away.”

Norcross is a cosponsor of the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions & Making Health Care More Affordable Act of 2019. According to the Center of Budget and Policy Priorities, the act would make coverage more affordable for low-, moderate- and middle-income individual market consumers, reducing premiums for more than 13 million people by:

  • Lowering health insurance premiums with strengthened and expanded affordability assistance;
  • Strengthening protections for people with pre-existing conditions;
  • Stopping insurance companies from selling junk health insurance plans; and
  • Reversing the GOP’s health care sabotage that has needlessly driven up premiums and uninsured rates.
