WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the following statement on the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) score of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) as amended and voted on by the House of Representatives:

“The CBO score proves what we already knew: This latest version of TrumpCare is still a tax break for the very wealthy disguised as ‘care’ for American families. Only two groups will benefit: billionaires and undertakers. This bill of false goods that hastily passed the House would literally put millions of lives at risk.

“In my district alone, tens of thousands of people will lose coverage because of the House-passed bill. TrumpCare turns its back on our children, women, seniors and our neighbors struggling with the disease of addiction.

“Trump and Ryan said no one will lose coverage, no one will be denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions and that people will pay a fraction of what they pay now. CBO says 23 million people will lose coverage, people with pre-existing conditions will lose care and that the cost of coverage will rise 20% in 2018.

“The Senate must listen to the facts, not the empty promises. The Senate must listen to the American people calling for affordable coverage. The Senate must reject TrumpCare.”
