WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Representative Donald Norcross (D-NJ) released a statement on President Trump’s chaotic actions throughout the week.

“It's been another week of chaos, confusion, and uncertainty under the Trump Administration, which has done nothing to relieve families of the economic struggles they are facing every day. President Trump has spent the last week working to gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which protects Americans from fraud and scams. He said he would close the Department of Education, which helps fund our public schools, fund special education, provide financial assistance for students in college, and much more. He has fired federal employees, including our CIA agents and Small Business Administration staff, making us less safe and it harder for small businesses to access federal resources. 

“President Trump and congressional Republicans are planning a federal budget that would include significant cuts to Medicaid so that they can give the wealthy and big corporations more tax cuts. Everyone deserves access to health care and while the country waits for President Trump’s “concept of a health care plan” the health insurance for 72 million Americans is at risk. 

“All of these actions are being taken while inflation is on the rise and Americans everywhere are struggling to put food on the table. The country needs a leader who is focused on creating a strong workforce and a stable economy, not someone who wants to wage culture wars and dismantle the programs people depend on to provide for their families. In Congress, I will do everything I can to fight back against President Trump’s devastating actions and ensure our government is working for the American people.”
