WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following President Donald Trump’s executive order withdrawing the United States from Trans-Pacific Partnership trade negotiations, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) released the following statement:

“Today’s executive order follows years of hard work by American workers, unions and allied members of Congress to stop the job-killing Transpacific Partnership,” Norcross said. “It’s the first step of many our country must take to bring back jobs and grow the American middle class. This administration promised to support working families and renegotiate existing bad trade deals like NAFTA, and I intend to hold them accountable.”

Norcross has opposed the Trans-Pacific Partnership since day one and voted against Trade Promotion Authority to fast track trade deals.

An International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) member and electrician by trade, Norcross has spent his life fighting for working families. He served as a business agent and president of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO. Today, he’s continuing his lifelong fight for workers in Congress as a member of the House Education and Workforce committee.
