WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Donald Norcross (D-NJ) voted yes on the Social Security Fairness Act. The bill was brought to the House floor through a discharge petition, a legislative procedure that automatically brings a bill up for a vote in the House of Representatives when 218 representatives sign on to the petition.
"Today, I voted yes on the Social Security Fairness Act to ensure millions of dedicated public servants receive the benefits they deserve," said Congressman Donald Norcross. "Right now, 2.8 million retired public servants have had their Social Security benefits unfairly reduced or eliminated, meaning that our retired police officers, firefighters, teachers, letter carriers, and first responders are being cheated out of their hard-earned benefits. The Social Security Fairness Act aims to right this wrong and give these hardworking Americans the benefits they deserve."
