Congressman Norcross Traveling to Israel

News Release
Iran Nuclear Deal Expected to Be Among Key Topics

Washington, DC - Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced today that he’ll soon depart for Israel as part of a working trip that includes a bipartisan delegation of freshman Members of the United States House of Representatives.

While the intention of this journey is educational and was scheduled before the Obama Administration announced a nuclear deal with Iran, that agreement is certain to be a key topic during the trip.

Congressman Norcross continues to analyze the deal. In recent weeks, Rep. Norcross has met with President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, and Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz among others, and has received classified briefings on the deal. Rep. Norcross has also spoken directly with constituents who have shared thoughts both for and against the agreement with Iran.

“While I fully support the administration's diplomatic goals, I am deeply skeptical that the Iranian regime shares America's values and desire for peace, and I am studying the accord carefully to determine its potential impacts on our national security,” said Rep. Norcross. “Last year I was fortunate enough to travel to Israel with a state delegation hosted by New Jersey’s Association of Jewish Federations. Now, with critical decisions ahead, I look forward to hearing firsthand what this deal means to our strongest ally in the region, its expert officials, and its people.”

The trip is privately funded at no expense to U.S. taxpayers. In the interest of the safety and security of the Congressional Delegation, the Office of Rep. Norcross is restricted from sharing the itinerary and other details of the trip. Congressman Norcross will provide updates during his overseas travel when possible via social media.
