News Release
Will Serve on the House Committee on Education & Labor, & the House Armed Services Committee

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) was today re-appointed to serve on the House Committee on Education and Labor and the House Armed Services Committee.

An electrician by trade, Norcross has a long history of fighting for workers in New Jersey.

“As Democrats enter the majority, we’re rightfully changing the name back to include the word ‘labor,’ since it is the hard labor of everyday working men and women who we must represent on this committee,” said Congressman Norcross. “I know the struggles that America’s working families are facing because I’ve been there myself. I was once a single parent having to balance work, family life and a checkbook. I will continue to share my experiences with colleagues on both sides of the aisle as we finally stand up for workers and vote to raise wages. This week, I will join Senator Bernie Sanders and other colleagues to re-introduce the Raise the Wage Act and act to responsibly increase the federal minimum wage, continuing my lifelong commitment to raising wages for workers in New Jersey and across America.”

Norcross also re-affirmed his commitment to strengthen America’s national security and fight for New Jersey’s military families.

“As the proud father of a veteran, serving on the House Armed Services Committee is personal for me. I know we must have the backs of the brave men and women who defend our nation – both when they’re abroad and when they come home,” said Norcross. “In the last Congress, I successfully fought for the new fleet of KC-46 refueling tankers to be stationed at South Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. These refueling tankers will bring new jobs and growth to our state and make our base an indispensable starting point for national security missions on the East Coast.”

In addition to his two House committee assignments, Norcross was unanimously elected to serve as Vice Chair and Labor Liaison for the Congressional Progressive Caucus and was recently selected to be the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee’s Parliamentarian for the 116th Congress. He is also the co-founder of the Building Trades Caucus and Vice-Chair of the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Opioid Epidemic.
