WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) voted in favor of the American Rescue Plan, a comprehensive relief package that includes mounting a national vaccination program, investing in schools so they can safely reopen, providing direct assistance to American workers and families and expanding small business relief.

Norcross released the following statement after the bill’s passage through the House:

“This is about saving lives and livelihoods. The American Rescue Plan will provide a comprehensive plan to get more vaccines into arms, students back in school and people back to work. Every American, from our local port workers to grocery store clerks, and from small business owners to students, urgently needs help to weather both the health crisis and economic crisis caused by this pandemic. Today, we came together to pass this bill to support all South Jersey residents and truly begin to build back better.

“My colleagues and I heard the concerns of Americans and fought for resources to keep fire, police, sanitation workers and teachers on the job, resources for schools to safely open and operate, investments in food banks and other nutrition assistance programs and additional direct payments to hard working families. We have a responsibility to protect the health and well-being of our families and neighbors. I urge the Senate to act swiftly and pass this legislation to get the American people the relief they deserve.”

Norcross is a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, serves as Chair of the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee on the House Armed Services Committee and is a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
