...April 12th shows how far into the year women have to work to earn what men made the previous year. A protest against unequal wages was held Tuesday at the University of Rutgers-Camden.

..."It is an outrage," said New Jersey Congressman Donald Norcross referring to the fact that women today earn 79 cents for every buck men make.

...Norcross is co-sponsor of the PayCheck Fairness Act which updates the 1963's Equal Pay Act. The measure has languished in the Senate for years.

...Rep. Donald Norcross, D-NJ, pitched a legislative proposal Thursday to boost monthly Social Security benefits and limit Medicare premium increases.

...Norcross called it a simple two-part plan, devised in response to older constituents' complaints. He plans to introduce the legislation when the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes next month.

...Legislation authored by Norcross (D-1st Dist.) to rename Deptford's post office in honor of 1st Lt. Salvatore Corma passed the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Tuesday, the congressman's office announced.

..."Sal Corma gave his life for his country and his very last actions show his valor and selflessness. Renaming the Deptford Post Office in his memory will remind the people of South Jersey of the sacrifices this young hero made so that we may be free," said Norcross in a press release.

...In celebration of CTE Month Congressman Donald Norcross toured the programs at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT).

...Norcross got to see first-hand young people getting valuable hands-on experience in a wide array of specialized fields, from welding and electrical work, to baking and pastry arts, and even television production.

...Representative Donald Norcross, congressman for NJ's 1st congressional district, visited with the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey to talk about The Paycheck Fairness Act.

..."The Paycheck Fairness Act is the second generation of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which talked about making sure that women are paid the equal amount that men are paid when they're doing the same job," said Norcross.

...Senate President Stephen Sweeney and U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross on Tuesday announced a joint effort to raise the state and federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.

...Norcross' bill in Congress, he said, would raise the minimum wage 75 cents in the first year and $1 a year until hitting $15 an hour. Future increases would be tied to the rate of inflation. Sweeney's state version would depend on amending the constitution to raise the rate to $9 in the first year and $1 a year until reaching $15 in 2024.
