...Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (D-N.J.) yesterday joined staffers from the Railroad Construction Co. of South Jersey (RCCSJ) to tour the company's facility. He also visited RCCSJ's project at the Port of Paulsboro, where 14,000 feet of track and nine turnouts are being built.
..."This investment in infrastructure in South Jersey is an investment in our future. The trains that will travel these rails will literally deliver new jobs and economic growth to this region, and that's something we all welcome," said Norcross.

...Among heavy machinery, hard hats and construction sounds, Congressman Donald Norcross looked comfortable, even content, Thursday morning on a tour of railway construction in Paulsboro.
..."I'm back here, out of Washington, with real people," Norcross said on the second leg of the tour — the port — where construction crews welded track pieces and built sections of the new 1,670-foot track related to the terminal.

...Late last month, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced $12.8 million more in funding to go to 20 community agencies nationwide to help homeless veterans, including $395,295 for the Volunteers of America's Delaware Valley chapter's transitional housing program.

...The Becks have been adopting children, most with special needs, since 1990. Now, they are being honored with the Angels in Adoption award for all of their efforts.
...Representative Donald Norcross nominated the parents for the award this summer.
..."When I learned of the selfless actions of the Becks, I knew I had to do something to recognize them," Norcross said in a press release, "No one deserves this distinction as much as they do."

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) introduced the Workplace Democracy Act in same place where he launched his bid for president -- just a short stroll away from the Capitol. Early this afternoon, dozens of organizers and would-be organizers waved red-white-and-blue signs, donned red-white-and-blue shirts, and waited for Sanders to take a place between them and at least two dozen cameras. As he arrived, tourists gawked at a celebrity they knew from TV, who did not talk about himself.

WASHINGTON — All six U.S. House Democrats in New Jersey's congressional delegation called for legislation that can "protect innocent lives while safeguarding the rights of law-abiding gun owners."
The letter was sent to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday, the same day a gunman killed nine people at a community college in Oregon. It was signed by 147 House members, including Republican Reps. Peter King of New York and Robert Dold of Illinois.
When there's a prayer, there's a way.
Sewell resident Grace Bobby, group leader for the South Jersey chapter of America Needs Fatima, was hoping to lead a rosary rally to the Sept. 23 canonization of Junipero Serra in Washington D.C., led by Pope Francis.
She called the office of state Rep. Donald Norcross; no tickets were available for the 23rd. However, his office did have tickets for the pope's address to the Joint Session of Congress, scheduled for the morning of Thursday, Sept. 24.
