Washington, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Donald Norcross congratulated Yasmin Rigney of Camden City who was selected as the 2015 New Jersey Cherry Blossom Princess by the New Jersey State Society (NJSS). Ms. Rigney, an honors graduate of Dr. Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School (2009) and Loyola University (2013), visited with Congressman Norcross during the organization’s week in Washington.  

Princesses are selected for their leadership, academic achievements, and interest in community and world affairs.  One queen will be chosen from among the princesses from each state by a spin of a wheel at the ball and will travel to Japan for numerous service activities with Japan’s Cherry Blossom queen.

“Ms. Rigney hails from my hometown of Camden City and was elected by the New Jersey State Society for her outstanding academic achievements, demonstrated leadership and interest in community and world affairs,” said Congressman Norcross. “Yasmin is a wonderful representative for New Jersey and meeting exceptional young people like her is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job as Congressman.”

Later this month, Yasmin will participate in dozens of educational, cultural and charitable activities in Washington, DC along with the other 49 states’ Cherry Blossom representatives. 

The NJSS is a 600-member, Washington DC-based nonprofit founded in 1941 that fosters educational, cultural, charitable and social activities among individuals with ties to New Jersey who work in the government, military and the private sector.
