WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) met with a ShopRite executive in South Jersey today to discuss the federal government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and to discuss the impact it’s had on ShopRite’s business and the measures they have taken to help keep employees and patrons safe. Norcross also briefed the faculty on Congress’ actions in protecting workers and families, including passing the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
“Back in Congress, we have been working hard to pass strong, bipartisan bills that protect the health, economic security and well-being of American families. Congress has passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes nearly a billion dollars to provide access to meals for those without food security, including $400 million in additional funding for the Emergency Food Assistance Program,” said Congressman Norcross. “During this time, we must ensure all of our residents, including those with disabilities, the elderly and those who are low income, have access to food and basic necessities. South Jersey grocery stores and pharmacies are essential to providing these to our community, and I’m grateful for the measures that ShopRite has taken to prepare and keep their shelves as stocked as possible, while keeping their staff and shoppers safe.”
Norcross added: “I will continue to work with federal, state and local officials to contain the spread and move forward, ensuring that South Jersey is prepared, residents are healthy and our workers and their families are protected.”
Norcross met with Jason Ravitz, Executive Vice President of Retail Operations, as well as ShopRite employees and customers.
The meeting was held at the Garden State Park ShopRite in Cherry Hill.
