Washington, DC-Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today voted in favor of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, which calls for sweeping improvements to public school education nationwide.

The Act, which has broad bipartisan support, reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and replaces the flawed “No Child Left Behind Law.”

“We owe it to all students to provide fair and equal access to the best education possible. As I’ve said before, your zip code shouldn’t determine the quality of education a student receives,” said Rep. Norcross.

The Every Student Succeeds Act helps states improve low-performing schools, offers grants to schools in low-income communities, and provides assistance to states working to improve teacher quality. Additionally, the Act reduces the number of standardized tests that don’t contribute to student learning, expands preschool & afterschool programs, and offers health & social services to students and their families.

“This legislation finally gives students and teachers the tools they need to set and achieve their academic goals, then go on to eventually succeed in a competitive workforce,” added Rep. Norcross.

Congressman Donald Norcross is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Budget Committee, and serves as an Assistant Whip in the 114th Congress.
