Washington, DC - Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) is pleased to announce multiple port and transit security grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that will ensure a safer South Jersey.

Among the grant recipients, New Jersey Transit, which received $17,361,332 and The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) which received $2,655,200.

The grants were awarded under DHS’s Transit Security Grant Program, which provides funds to the nation’s high-threat urban areas to protect critical surface transportation and the traveling public from acts of terrorism.

Separately, DHS awarded $100 million to help protect critical port infrastructure from terrorism and improve port-wide maritime security risk management. The following law enforcement agencies/corporations received awards under the Port Security Grant Program today:

-Camden County Sheriff’s Office $25,000

-County of Burlington $10,850

-Paulsboro Refining Company, LLC $1,169,276

-Sunoco Logistics Partners-Eagle Point Facility $71,996

“The people of South Jersey who travel our roads, bridges and rails can be assured I’m fighting every day to make sure we have the resources to keep them safe. This funding announcement comes at a critical time, as millions prepare to cross from South Jersey into Philadelphia for September’s World Meeting of Families and visit from Pope Francis,” said Rep. Norcross.
