Press Releases

U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) released the following statement regarding the tentative railway labor agreement. The tentative agreement was reached in the early hours this morning after U.S. Secretary for Labor Marty Walsh hosted negotiators at the Department of Labor for hours of talks between rail companies and unions representing tens of thousands of rail workers.

β€œThe tentative agreement reached in the early hours of this morning is good for rail workers and the American economy. This was a high-stakes process that had massive implications for tens of thousands of workers and large swaths of the national supply chain. As someone who has been involved in numerous labor negotiations, I know how intense these final hours can be β€“ but I also know the fruit that good-faith discussions can bear.

β€œThe tentative agreement is proof that when you respect workers and keep them at the table, our economy and the American people win. I want to thank President Biden for his leadership throughout this process, as well as Secretary Walsh for his dedication to building consensus, and Secretaries Buttigieg and Vilsack for their diligent work in reaching the agreement. I look forward to the members voting on this new contract so we can continue our fight to lower costs and foster long-term economic growth for working families.”
