Rep. Norcross Announces More Than $2 Million in Federal Funding Awarded to Rowan University

CHERRY HILL, NJ – Today, Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) announced more than $2 million in National Science Foundation grants to support research, innovation, and development at Rowan University.
The awards to Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering include $505,676 to ensure informed decisions in wastewater treatment facilities design, $573,719 to investigate the impacts of industrial crystallization in the manufacturing of materials, and $500,000 to develop smart and controllable components for surface acoustic waves.
“South Jersey and Rowan University continue to lead the way nationally in critically important research, development, and innovation,” Rep. Norcross said. “I’m proud to secure this funding that will make remarkable breakthroughs, invest in our communities, spur economic growth, and prepare the next generation of innovators. I will continue to fight to bring federal funding to South Jersey, and I look forward to seeing the results of South Jersey’s innovations and research.”
The grants are awarded through the CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program, which is the NSF’s most prestigious award that supports early career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models and advance the mission of their department or organization.
“These fast-rising faculty are among the best recruits in their respective fields of research,” said Mei Wei, Rowan University’s vice president for research. “The National Science Foundation’s CAREER awards are a testament to the caliber of their work and to our institution.”
