Camden, NJ-U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) observed Independence Day by participating in a naturalization ceremony for dozens of new American citizens on board the Battleship New Jersey.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend the Fourth of July, than to join with these newly minted Americans for the culmination of their long journey to citizenship,” said Rep. Norcross.

This is the second consecutive year Rep. Norcross has served as keynote speaker at the event, which is sponsored by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

“The setting for this ceremony is especially meaningful. We’re on the most decorated battleship in U.S. history. And we’re right across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, where our country was founded 240 years ago today. I know these citizens will never forget this special milestone in their lives,” added Rep. Norcross.

The 40 new citizens hail from 29 countries–Belize, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saint Lucia, United Kingdom & Ukraine.
