Washington, DC-Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today announced separate U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) have been awarded to the Audubon Park Fire Department and Collingswood Fire Department to acquire modern equipment for their firefighters.

“The heroes who protect our communities around the clock need reliable equipment and gear when they rush toward danger. That’s why I supported these grants, which are so critical to our South Jersey fire departments, because the funding will help protect our firefighters and give peace of mind to their families and loved ones,” said Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01).

Audubon Park Fire Department will receive $89,715 to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus and turnout gear for its eleven firefighters, replacing outdated equipment.

“This couldn’t have come at a better time. This grant will protect our firefighters who are protecting our community and our neighbors,” said Audubon Park Fire Chief Daniel Galiano, Sr.

Collingswood Fire Department will receive $48,520 to install a ventilation system at its firehouse, which will direct exhaust from fire trucks and other apparatus out of the fire station.

“We’re glad to see support from the community, as we support our community,” said Collingswood firefighter and EMT, Stephen Reustle, who led that department’s grant application.

In 2016 alone, Rep. Donald Norcross has successfully supported nearly $6 million in federal government grants for eight Southern New Jersey Fire Departments.
