Norcross Meets with NJ Muslim Leaders
February 15, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) met with Muslim community leaders from across the state to listen to their concerns regarding the new administration and the president's Muslim ban.
“We were taught the pilgrims came to America for religious freedom. The very nature of who we are is based on that pursuit of freedom,” Norcross said. “Listening to the personal stories of discrimination and the fears New Jersey Muslims face was incredibly troubling. This meeting has further strengthened my resolve to ensure every person in our country is treated equally and with respect, regardless of their religion or background.”
The meeting, organized by Congressman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), also included Senator Bob Menendez, Senator Cory Booker, and representatives Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Donald Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) and Leonard Lance (NJ-7).
