WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 1, the For the People Act:
“I’ve always supported making voting easier, not harder – and it’s a good thing we finally have the opportunity to give more Americans the ability to have their voices heard, to implement campaign finance reform and to restore trust in our public institutions.
“Immediately after the 2016 election, I called for an investigation into foreign interference in our democracy, and this bill rightfully increases the security of our election systems while improving access to the ballot box. Plus, automatic voter registration – which was implemented in my home state last year – can now become a reality for the entire country.
“Voting rights aren’t a partisan issue and today is a day that our forefathers would be proud of.”
