Rep. Norcross Announces Pause on Proposed Changes to South Jersey Post Office Processing and Distribution Center
May 15, 2024
Today, Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) announced the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) pause to proposed plans that would impact the South Jersey Processing and Distribution Center and mail service reliability throughout the community.
“The pause by the Postal Service on their proposed plan for the processing and distribution center in Bellmawr is great news for South Jersey. The distribution center serves a large region in South Jersey and any proposed changes must be thoughtful about how services will be impacted for our citizens,” Rep. Norcross said. “As I said in my letter to the Postmaster General in March, residents rely on the Postal Service every day and its services are essential to our communities and our economy. I will continue to press the Postal Service’s leadership for a plan that will ensure that essential mail services won’t be impacted in South Jersey.”
In March, Rep. Norcross sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis Dejoy urging greater transparency in the process and requested answers on how the proposed changes will impact South Jersey. The letter sent by Rep. Norcross to Postmaster DeJoy can be found here.
On Tuesday, Postmaster Dejoy sent a letter informing Congress of the pause to the proposed changes.
