We must do everything we can to ensure service members, veterans, and their families are cared for in return for their service to our country. Proper defense budgeting ensures our soldiers are best equipped to get the job done. Maintaining the readiness of our military also ensures our national defense. Supporting South Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst not only supports our national security needs, but it also employs 44,000 civilians and military personnel.
I also have a personal commitment to the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East and the region’s only democracy. I am proud to serve on the Armed Services Committee to ensure our military, allies, and strategic partners can meet domestic and security threats to our shared democratic values.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congressmen Donald Norcross (D-NJ-01) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01) introduced the National Child Identification Act, H.R. 1764, which aids law enforcement by encouraging parents and guardians to proactively collect and store their children's sensitive identification information at home. When DNA samples are stored safely at home, law enforcement officers can spend the crucial first hours during a missing-person case searching for the child, rather than searching for the child's DNA samples.

A federal agency has authorized a $600 million shipbuilding contract expected to support about 1,200 jobs in the South Jersey-Philadelphia area, authorities say.
The contract calls for two training vessels to be built at a Philadelphia shipyard for delivery to maritime academies in Maine and Texas, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The ships, known as National Security Multi-Mission Vessels, also are intended for use in disaster-relief missions.
