Press Releases

CHERRY HILL, NJ – Following the announcement that the Atlantic City Rail Line will reopen on May 12, 2019 – two weeks ahead of the previously-set May 24 deadline – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the below statement:

“For months, I’ve been stressing that our economy relies on transportation and that South Jersey needs to have this line up and running as we get closer to summer. I’m glad the state has finally heeded the call to reopen the line and return normalcy for the tens of thousands of people in South Jersey who rely on the Atlantic City Rail Line.

“This has clearly been in limbo for far too long and, while I welcome this news, I will also continue to work with transportation officials to ensure we are able to keep our rails consistently running in the future.”

Ahead of a public meeting in February with South Jersey residents and New Jersey’s Transportation Commissioner, Norcross issued a statement calling for expediency in reopening the line. Additionally, Norcross and 10 of his New Jersey House colleagues sent a letter to NJT Executive Director Corbett regarding the service shutdown.
