WASHINGTON, DC – Ahead of a public meeting with South Jersey residents and New Jersey’s Transportation Commissioner, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the following statement on the Atlantic City Rail Line:

“The tens of thousands of people in South Jersey, our state and the region who rely on the Atlantic City Rail Line deserve to have normalcy returned to them as soon as possible. And last week, I expressed this to NJ Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Gutierrez-Scaccetti and New Jersey Transit (NJT) Executive Director Corbett.

“I’m glad that Governor Murphy has directed NJT to set a date to reopen the line and that the NJDOT Commissioner will hear firsthand accounts about how critical rail is for South Jersey families tonight. Our economy relies on our transportation systems and South Jersey needs to have this line up and running during convention season and as we get closer and closer to summer. This has been in limbo for far too long, and I will continue to work with my friends in the legislature and our transportation leaders to get full and regular service restored.”

Earlier this month, Norcross and 10 of his New Jersey House colleagues sent a letter to NJT Executive Director Corbett regarding the service shutdown.
