CHERRY HILL, NJ – Today, Rep. Donald Norcross (D-DJ) announced $337,848 in federal funding for the Cherry Hill Fire District and $61,854 for the City of Camden Fire Department through the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). Administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the funding will provide critical resources and equipment that train firefighters and emergency personnel.
“I’m proud to announce this federal funding to support and protect the first responders of the Cherry Hill Fire District and the City of Camden Fire Department,” Rep. Norcross said. “These grants provide South Jersey’s firefighters with the with the tools and resources they need to keep our communities safe. Public safety is one of my top priorities in Congress, and I will continue to work to ensure the safety of our firefighters and the families they protect.”
AFG grants are awarded directly to fire departments, nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations, State Fire Training Academies, and non-federal airport and/or port authority fire or EMS organizations to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as that of first-responder personnel. Using a competitive process that is informed by fire service subject-matter experts, grants are awarded to applicants whose requests best address AFG’s priorities.
In 2023, Rep. Norcross has announced over $622,000 for South Jersey firefighters in Camden City, Bellmawr, Stratford, and Collingswood.
