Today, Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) called on House Republican leadership to support President Joe Biden’s $6 billion supplemental request to extend funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which was funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The ACP is the largest internet affordability program in U.S. history and provides millions of American families with free and discounted high-speed internet. Without Congressional action, the ACP will run out of funding by spring 2024, jeopardizing the progress it has already made to close the digital divide.

“From doing homework to applying for jobs and accessing health care, reliable high-speed internet is a necessity for modern life,” Rep. Norcross said. “The Affordable Connectivity Program, which we enacted through Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is a historic step towards closing the digital divide and ensuring that every American can succeed in school, pursue their career, and stay connected. I’m proud that the ACP has delivered more than $15.6 million for South Jersey, helping 33,692 families in our district save on their monthly internet bills. However, if Congress does not extend funding for this critical program, millions of families across the country could lose their high-speed internet access. That’s why I’m calling on House Republicans to support President Biden’s $6 billion supplemental funding request to ensure that the ACP can continue to lower costs for families and expand pathways to the middle class.”

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues historic investment in our nation’s infrastructure and improving our quality of life and creating good-paying jobs for hardworking families in South Jersey and across the country.

Over the past two years, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has delivered transformative results for our community through $8.1 billion to repair and improve our highways and bridges, $263.7 million to expand access to high-speed internet, and $463 million to provide clean and safe water across New Jersey.
