Rep. Norcross Announces Federal Grant Award for South Jersey Infrastructure Project
September 30, 2016
Washington, DC-Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today announced a U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant award for Cooper’s Ferry Partnership, Inc. and the City of Camden in the amount of $1,469,347 for a significant South Jersey infrastructure project.
“By announcing this award, I’m thankful that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) sees what the rest of us in South Jersey see for Camden--an American city rising to new heights and preparing for its best days. This award will complement other funding opportunities that are literally providing the foundation upon which we are building a better future for the residents, businesses, and visitors of Camden City and its neighboring communities,” said Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01).
The grant award will fund street improvements in downtown Camden, providing connections to the City’s transportation hubs and contribute to revitalization efforts, creating 40 jobs and $80 million in private investments.
“This is great news for Camden yet again,” Mayor Dana L. Redd said. “Thanks to Congressman Norcross and his relentless efforts to bring Camden its fair share of federal grants, we can keep the positive momentum of progress by addressing critical infrastructure improvements in North Camden and throughout the City.”
The EDA funding award comes on the heels of a previously announced redevelopment project for the City of Camden, representing a $16.2 million U.S. Department of Transportation investment in the city’s revitalization efforts, known as ‘Camden Connections for the Future Project,’ which will provide critical infrastructure upgrades and economic development opportunities for Camden.
