Press Releases
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) released the following statement regarding his attendance of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signing ceremony:
“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is going to help rebuild America and will create millions of good-paying jobs. And as I’ve said, the best social program is a good-paying job. Today marked a historic investment in America’s workforce, which will improve South Jersey’s roads, bridges, rail, ports, and build the first-ever national electric vehicle charging network. It expands reliable and high-speed internet to every household, and replaces lead water pipes, ensuring communities and schools have clean drinking water. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will put South Jerseyans to work and enable everyone to get to work safely while reducing congestion for commuters.
“I was honored to be present for the signing of this historic bill. I know the importance of large-scale infrastructure projects. As an IBEW union electrician, I worked on the Ben Franklin Bridge and PATCO, and those jobs allowed me to provide for my family. Infrastructure investment creates jobs and opportunities for our communities. But they also have a more fundamental impact: when we work to build bridges in our communities and in Congress, we deliver for the American people. That’s what rebuilding our infrastructure is about: creating jobs and building opportunities for people and our nation for generations to come.”

New Jersey Infrastructure Background
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act meets critical needs for New Jersey. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave New Jersey infrastructure a grade of “D+.” In New Jersey 502 bridges and nearly 4,000 miles of highway are in poor condition. Poor road conditions cost the average New Jersey driver over $700 in vehicle repairs. Investments to expand broadband access will connect the 31% of New Jersey households that do not currently have an internet connection.
