Cherry Hill, NJ-Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today announced a $1,671,441 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to Camden Healthy Start (CHS).
Camden Healthy Start is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of pregnant women, babies and families in Camden City by reducing infant mortality and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities that exist among black and Latina women. Financial support for CHS comes through the federal Healthy Start initiative. This grant announcement represents a continuation of funding for a multi-year federal initiative for Camden Healthy Start.
“These funds are vital so that local mothers can have healthy pregnancies and give their newborns the right start in life, said Rep. Donald Norcross.
“We are so pleased to continue work to improve the health of pregnant women, babies and families in Camden City and reduce infant mortality. This funding will allow us to further our mission to build a healthier Camden for future generations,” said Dianne Browne, Project Director of Camden Healthy Start.
CHS serves pregnant women and families with children up to two years old who live in Camden City. The program provides family support, home visits, health education and help connecting to services and resources in the community. CHS also works with other organizations and agencies to improve the system of care for moms and babies in Camden City.
