WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the following statement on the House budget vote that paves the way for the Ryan-McConnell-Trump tax plan:
“Middle class families want to see lower taxes, a simpler tax code and more jobs, but Republicans keep offering handouts to billionaires and huge corporations instead of helping the American people.
“The budget vote today just moves us closer to welfare for the wealthy and farther away from higher wages and job growth. Republicans will vote to give millions to millionaires, but won’t vote to raise wages for millions of full-time working Americans. They keep using the term ‘tax reform,’ when it’s really a bait and switch that will lead to smaller paychecks for middle-class Americans.
“The Ryan-McConnell-Trump tax plan is a giveaway to billionaires, and it’s paid for by New Jersey families who will lose their critical state and local tax deduction. Americans must reject this plan that will do nothing to create jobs, raise wages and bring real relief for working families.”
