CHERRY HILL, NJ – Today, Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ-01) announced that three Cherry Hill High School East students have won the 2021 Congressional App Challenge for New Jersey’s 1st Congressional District.

Armaan, Karina, and Gia Gupta – triplets with a passion for designing apps who also won the Congressional App Challenge in 2020 – focused on COVID-19’s disruption to people’s health. Their 2021 app, Tulio, allows people to track their health from the comfort of their own homes and receive medical advice from health care professionals.

“Armaan, Karina, and Gia saw a problem and set out to solve it,” said Congressman Norcross. “It is heartening that their instinct in creating Tulio was to help improve the health of others. These past few years have been extremely challenging, especially for our students, and I applaud Armaan, Karina, and Gia for their dedication to working hard even as the pandemic disrupted their learning environment.”

The Congressional App Challenge is designed to engage student creativity and encourage their participation in STEM fields. This nationwide event allows high school students from across the country to compete against their peers by creating and exhibiting their software applications on a platform of their choice.

Winning apps from congressional districts across the country are eligible for display in the U.S. Capitol and featured on the House of Representatives website. Traditionally, winners have been invited to Washington, DC, to attend a summit where they can display their apps to members of Congress and members of the technology community. The 2021 summit was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
