Labor Caucus Statement on Workers’ Memorial Day
April 28, 2021
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, on Workers’ Memorial Day, Labor Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Steven Horsford (D-NV), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), Mark Pocan (D-WI), Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY) released the following statement:
“On Workers’ Memorial Day, we honor those who have lost their lives on the job, especially as our nation continues to battle COVID-19 – which has claimed the lives of many frontline and essential workers. Each year, workers die on the job because of unsafe working conditions, and the added danger of the pandemic has only exacerbated the risks workers face every day to earn a paycheck.
“As the co-chairs of the Labor Caucus, we are the voice of working families in Congress, and we recommit to our fight for safer workplaces, including stronger standards and enforcement in job safety and health protections. We again call on the Senate to pass the PRO Act to strengthen workplace rights and protections for millions of workers.”
