The roughly 44,000 members of the military who live and work at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County, as well as some of the more than 400,000 veterans who live in New Jersey, could have an easier time accessing private-sector specialty medical services under a new program announced Tuesday.
HeroCare Connect, as the program is known, is a “one-call concierge service” that will help military patients referred for specialty care to get an appointment with a specialist in southern or central New Jersey within 48 hours, according to officials at the Camden-based Cooper University Health Care and the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Burlington County, which are running the program.
